Concept Board Interior Design Cambridgeshire

How Can an Interior Design Planner in Cambridgeshire Help You?

Welcome, design enthusiasts!

Today, we dive into the subject /technique used in the Interior design process, and it sets the tone for every project we take on! At Pinterior.space we believe that Concept Board Interior Design is one of the most crucial techniques that is created, and it's the first stage of the design process- Defining our ideas about the space, and later working as a guide for design development. A Concept board is not a product, but a tool, with which you can communicate visual concepts and define the direction in which you wish to proceed. This process takes time and work, and it should never be underestimated, in order to translate the written brief into a visual format!  The right selection of materials, colour and fabric samples, types of furniture, and furnishing accessories, shapes, and decorative motives, must be combined to provide a complete and dynamic vision.

So, Why is it so important to create a Concept board?

It is a fundamental tool for identifying a style, looks, and feel, for the environment, offering you, the designer to showcase your vision, and to express it!

During this process, we can avoid mixing several styles that might look good on paper, but in reality, turn out to be badly matched. We can make sure that we balance our interpretation of the brief, and therefore, we correctly portray the right vision/look and feel.

So, how do we decide how to create a concept board that is tailored to a specific client and it fits the criteria?

Step 1; Listening

We start off this process by Listening to our client's needs, desires, likes and dislikes, as well as, preferred Interior style direction, in order for us to define and create our client’s vision. We essentially transform our client brief into a visual format! This includes the style direction, proposal of colour scheme, material direction and the overall look and feel.

Throwing ourselves into a planning without clear indication and understanding of the proposed concept design could create a risk at a later stage, and avoid any misunderstandings.

Step 2; Research

Now that we have a clear understanding of the client brief, the space that is available, and what the client would like to achieve, it is time to gather images that can best represent the brief and best convey the look and feel of the space.

With the assistance of our space planning interior designers in Cambridgeshire, we start the creative process. We start our research and collection of visuals, materials and colour schemes to begin the journey. The initial objective of our designers must be that of proposing an idea in keeping and consistent with the client’s desires and expectations and being able to transmit that which is desired.

We don't just look for images on Google. We go further, by carefully going through other sources like books,  magazines, and any other elements of inspiration that can help to create the look. We always keep our eyes open, because you never know where inspiration might come from.

Step 3; Deciding on the right format and layout of the Concept board.

Now that we have all of the materials, it is time to decide how the Concept board should be formatted and look. This process is done at Pinterior.space in conjunction with our space planning interior designers in Cambridgeshire, and our concept board interior design Cambridgeshire teams.

The composition may be:

  • Linear and precise

  • More precise and less linear

  • More emotional

  • In a state of organised chaos

Your experience and motivation will drive you to choose the most suitable composition. It will also very much depend on the client’s brief and the personality of the project itself. You could choose a more playful layout if creating a concept design board for a child's space, or perhaps, something more Linear and precise when creating a Living room concept design. The decision should be carefully considered and analysed. Our team at Pinterior.space always consider greatly the respectful/individual approach to every project we take on.

If you also choose to use phrases or words, pay attention to the font, which must also be consistent and express the mood of the design.

Step 4; Final result

Our Contemporary Interior Designer example of a concept board.

A well-constructed Concept board, such as one of our bedrooms that is shown below, makes it possible to create the most correct colour and material combinations. Please see below:

Our clients wanted us to create a light and early feel with touches of luxury. Our clients wanted us to create a Contemporary Interior Design style space, space for sleeping as well as space for relaxing and reading. They wanted the space to be uniquely designed and with plenty of interest. Bare walls without life was not an option! Lighting design was particularly important.

Below, this modern interior design was done by our concept board Interior Design Cambridgeshire team, at Pinterior.space.

Taking into account the client brief our Interior designers started the process of creating the Concept board Interior design. Our designers collected images that depict the brief and translated collection of appropriate images into a luxury feel contemporary concept board. They have selected light materials for the walls ( wall mural ) with lots of texture and patterns, as well as, proposing light fixtures and furnishings. To contrast the light elements in the concept board our designers introduced touches of brass ( light fixture, furniture), dark walnut, and let's not forget the important material - fabric. By placing these images in a format that translated and communicated the right feel, we were able to give our client a very clear path, and direction, for the space at the next stage.  Our clients were able to see how the brief and their vision related, and our designers listened carefully to fulfil the client brief. We were able to move on to our next stage and start with the planning. Still keeping in mind the agreed contemporary concept board.
