Child’s room

It's essential to understand what life at home is really about and how the right skills that are exercised by our Space Planning Interior Design team can help/transform it into a dream and practical space!

How do we start?

Our experienced Interior designers always start with deep knowledge of life at home with children!

Families with children have many home furnishing needs, which differ from family to family. We always try to provide solutions that contribute to the life of the parents by making living together with children easier, safer, more enjoyable and more rewarding.

Before creating any space we always start by asking ourselves the following questions:

-Where do activities, such as homework and eating, take place in the home? And where are the items needed for each activity stored?

-What is the size of the children's room?

-What are the routines, rituals, habits and traditions in the home?

-How are trends affecting life at home? For example; what changes are being caused by children interacting with technology from a younger age?

-What are the dreams and desires for your children?

-How many siblings share a room? If at all?

-What are the children's ages? And many more questions in order for us to fully understand your requirements and wish list!

We also express an understanding of how children develop in Interior Decoration design!

Children develop and grow in phases- Therefore, solving the needs of a 4-year-old is very different to solving the needs of a 12-year-old. Children's needs, wants, dreams and activities in the home, changes as they grow. And so do the needs, wants and dreams of their parents. That means furnishing solutions have to change too. For example, children 3-4 years old are increasingly able to do things on their own, which builds their self-confidence. Our furnishing solutions can support this phase of development.

Our Interior designers will consider:

-Creating a well-being-safe environment in Interior Design For Home Cambridge, practical and durable solutions. Playtime is absolutely necessary for learning good motor and social skills. Encouraging their curiosity and creativity by allowing them to discover their world in a safe, creative, magical manner. This is where our experienced Interior designers in Cambridge come in, and contributes to the child's safe, creative, and well-being, environment. Nurture their sense of adventure while making sure anything unsafe is out of the way. They will make sure any potentially dangerous items are put away (e.g. durable and safe materials/products, choking hazards, things with sharp edges, etc.) and allow them to play, imagine, build and dream in their rooms. Stimulating and engaging toys and activities allow them to learn better and grow.

Interior Decoration design - Children spaces

-Safety is an important issue to consider when decorating any child’s room. Therefore we always  check  furniture, toys, paints, and fabrics before using them to decorate. Even the placement of your child’s bed in relation to the doorway is a decision in which safety comes into play.

-Creating flexibility - we always consider and propose solutions that makes it possible to create space for movement and other activities. This means flexible furnishing that can be moved and put back, and lighting that supports whatever activity is taking place.

-Proposing solutions that adapt over time- Furnishings that can grow and change as the clients (family ) change. Multi-functional products that can be used in different ways and at different age stages.

-Making everyone feel at home throughout the home - proposing layouts/solutions that make it easier for parents and children to spend time together. We also consider solutions where children and parents enjoy doing things separately.

Home furnishings and considerations/options for Children at home!

-We always consider easy-to-reach storage for gloves and other accessories so that everything needed for coming and going is all in one place.

-A full-length mirror in the entrance lets the whole, of every age and height, see themselves before going out.

Organising children's room

Organize your home and children

-Our experienced Interior designers at Pinterior.space, always present solutions at child height, so that children can reach, and be more independent at home. We also take into account proposing practical solutions for children who share a room with their brother or sister. How would that be implemented, and where would be the challenges with different ages? Making sure that we create spaces that match the child's size, and that children enjoy being in.

-Textiles are a great way to inject children's personality and creativity into the room. Our Interior designers at Pinterior.space always consider and think about: Textile adds comfort! Textiles express personality, and they also link well with function and beauty. They also inspire - Especially when working with areas where children play. Textiles are soft to the touch, beautiful to look at, and easy to furnish with them. Textiles transform the mood/ atmosphere, in any space of the home. Textiles can be joyful, friendly, and human, and more importantly, textiles can be easily changed without breaking the bank!

-Wallpaper! Is wallpaper good for a kid’s room? In kids' rooms which are mainly meant for playing, a stimulating wallpaper can be used for all walls, or, just one feature wall. The base colours should be light or white so that the pattern provides a distinct contrast. Patterns can be large-scale and "loud" - if they are too small, they can feel quite underwhelming. We always consider wallpaper or any other wall coverings in a child's room to stimulate, and awaken senses that can lead to inspiration for a child's development, playtime, or just as a beautiful finish, and well-being.

How does an Interior Design Planner in Cambridgeshire think about/do and improve when creating a child's  room?

Checklist:

-We are always realistic when planning children's rooms! We always make sure there is enough storage for all of the objects. We often use see-through storage, which makes it easy for children to find and put back items.

-We make sure that children's chairs/furniture heights always match the length and age of the child.

-A durable material that can support children's activities and longevity.

-Furniture on wheels is easily movable, as well as, making cleaning an easy task.

-Handy storage for any toys that can be put away leave free space to allow for movement and play.

-Soft rugs and upholstered furniture ( removable covers and washable rugs) help reduce noise, as well as allow for a comfortable place to be.

-Choosing a wall surface best suited for the function of the room. For example, Dirt resistance surfaces in children's rooms. We also consider the right colour ( wall surfaces) that are easier to maintain and are more durable, if treated with a silk or satin finish, rather than a mat finish.

-Any dangerous and fragile items are out of the reach of young children,  along with enough space for movement and different activities.

-A Suitable lighting scheme is always carefully considered/planned, making sure that we fully fulfil the needs of the child, alongside the functionality of the room. We always consider all three types of light - Wall lights ( functional or mood light)are a great way of providing soft, low-level light in the bedroom, and can work well if positioned on the wall above the bed for bedtime stories. Table lamps ( functional light) are also ideal for reading in bed, particularly for older children who may like to turn the light off themselves before going to sleep. General light supports all activity during the day together with functional and mood light.
